Get to Know X-Gamer

X-Gamer Energy started in the UK in 2014 as an industrial energy drink designed for enthusiast gamers and semi-pro gamers, but then later reformulated to be high-performance energy and focus energy drink.

Unlike the typical carbonated energy drinks you see refrigerated in convenience stores, X-Gamer comes in a powder form that you mix with water yourself. The brand boasts high-grade concentrated powder made with an energy matrix, multi-vitamins, and nootropic matrix to boost your cognitive functions such as problem-solving and decision making.

Although its calories and caffeine content are tougher compared to the majority of energy drinks in the market, its other ingredients like I’ve mentioned above are beneficial to gamers and athletes, making it worth the try.

At present, the energy brand ships across Europe and North America and is currently expanding worldwide, reaching more and more of their target audience.

X-Gamer Nutritional Information

Now that you’ve known a little bit about X-Gamer, let me take you into the teeny tiny details of its nutrients and ingredients. Here’s a picture of its nutrition label from the back of the X-Gamer 10-gram sachet:

Nutritional Information and ingredients found on the back of X-Gamer 10g sachet.

Apologies for the blurry photo, this is the most decent one I’ve got. Here’s a table I’ve made for you that’s a lot more comprehensible.

Carbohydrates (of which sugars )3g (0.2g)
Fat (of which saturates)0.02g (0g)

Looking at these nutrient facts, X-Gamer is undeniably a high-performance energy drink. If you’re a hardcore gamer, you might find this reliable in powering up your brain cells.

The caffeine level of X-Gamer will stimulate your central nervous system, improve mental performance, alertness, attention, and concentration. Although, this could also be a drawback.

For someone who has a high sensitivity to caffeine, multiple intakes of X-Gamer energy drinks a day may lead to serious health problems such as caffeine overdose, which I’ll tell you more about in a bit.

It’s also worth mentioning that X-Gamer’s calorie count is a bit high. There is a selection of energy drinks where you can find fewer calories, even ones that are completely calorie-free.

There is Taurine and Caffeine which help boost your performance and other nutrients like Ascorbic Acid and Dextrose Monohydrate that help maintain your body’s overall health.

Citric Acid is naturally found in citric fruits such as oranges.

On the sachet, X-Gamer has not included the amount of some ingredients on its list.

From a consumer standpoint, I think it’s important to indicate how much of these ingredients I’m getting per serving. And it should matter to you, too, whether you’re health-conscious or not, because each substance that goes into your body will affect you and your performance one way or another.

How many calories does X-Gamer have?

A 10g serving of X-Gamer contains 31 calories.

Compared to other popular powdered energy drinks in the market, X-Gamer’s calorie count is slightly higher. Take a look at this table:

X-Gamer per 10g servingSneak Energy per 10g servingG Fuel per 7g servingZipfizz
Calorie count31122520
Comparison of calorie count between powdered energy drinks.

While I find X-Gamer’s calorie count high, I personally believe that it should be okay if your day is going to require you a lot of physical and mental energy. The same sense applies if you’re a gamer who plays for long hours.

Calories often get a bad rep in dietary conversations but it is part of what your body draws energy from, so you shouldn’t shy away from X-Gamer. After all, we all need up to 2,000-2,500 calories a day to function normally.

How much sugar does X-Gamer have?

There’s 0.2g added sugar in a 10g sachet of X-Gamer. It’s almost sugar-free!

It’s a relief to know that diabetes should be the last thing of your worries if you plan to drink X-Gamer every day. Having this small amount of sugar is only present for a better-tasting drink and shouldn’t cause a sugar crash, which is common to other energy drinks that are loaded with sugar.

A sugar crash can cause the following:

  • dizziness
  • confusion
  • anxiety
  • increased heart rate
  • shakiness

Here’s another set of ingredients under X-Gamer’s ‘Other Ingredients’ list:

IngredientQuantity per 10g servingPurpose
L-CarnitineNot Specifiedplays a role in energy production
L-TyrosineNot Specifiedpromotes mental function (alertness, focus, etc.)
27 essential vitamin complex (includes Vitamin B6, B12, C) Not Specifiedprovides various health benefits
Ingredients are found at the bottom of the ingredients list.

Quite a few of the compounds that make up their formula aren’t specified, but it’s there, and it’s in the tiniest quantity.

I purposely separated these ingredients from the rest so you would know which ones contribute the least quantity to the X-Gamer energy drink mix. As you would know, ingredients are listed in order of predominance. This is in accordance with the FDA’s labeling instructions.

How much caffeine does X-Gamer have?

X-Gamer contains 200mg per serving.

While it’s still within my preferred caffeine intake of 100mg to 250mg, this varies per person and you might find it a bit too much.

A healthy adult is recommended to have an intake of up to 400mg of caffeine a day. What happens if your intake is exceeded? You might experience caffeine overdose.

Caffeine overdose happens when someone consumes caffeine more than what their body can handle. Symptoms include convulsion, panic attacks, and an increased heart rate. An overdose should be taken seriously because in worst cases, it can lead to a coma or even death.

Is X-Gamer gluten-free?

Gluten is a type of protein often found in wheat, barley, rice, oats, etc. ‘Gluten-free’ is a label given to products that do not contain the protein in any of its components.

The protein is only harmful to people with celiac disease, and the FDA has placed great importance on the labeling of ‘gluten-free‘ products so far as to provide a criterion for qualification.

Last I checked, X-Gamer has not stated their product to be gluten-free. Despite their lack of claim, their ingredients list could definitely pass as one. A look at their components shows that none of them contain gluten.

However, in my opinion, even if X-Gamer claimed that they’re gluten-free, gluten cross-contamination is still a possibility. This happens during the manufacturing process of a product by sharing machines and storage that was used in gluten-based products. Although unintentional, the chances are likely.

Is X-Gamer vegan?

Amazon, one of the brands authorized sellers, have included vegan-friendly in their description of the product. This is, however, not confirmed since the brand itself has not come out and declared its product vegan or vegan-friendly.

Vegan products have recently been gaining traction in the market due to veganism itself leading to a lot of healthy benefits. Here’s a helpful video for some insights.

If you’re not vegan yet, this Tedx talk might change your mind.

Vegan-friendly labeled products mean that the ingredients used in the formulation of the product don’t necessitate the use of any animal sources, nor does it require animal participation to fulfill the product’s creation.

Common animal-sourced ingredients are:

  • fish oil
  • gelatin
  • collagen
  • glycerin
  • lard
  • retinol

For your reference, you can access the full list of common animal-sourced ingredients for different products here.

In comparison to the full list, X-Gamer’s ingredient list does not contain any of the listed animal-derived components. But vegan-friendly products don’t stop there. Their production and manufacturing methods should not involve animal testing for them to pass as a vegan-friendly product.

With their ingredients list being completely absent of any animal-sourced ingredients, their lack of claim could be acquainted with their productions and manufacturing instead.

Then again, this is all just my deduction of the facts I have available. The brand itself is yet to come out with an official statement regarding this question. And if veganism is something you take to heart, this is definitely an answer you should be waiting on.

Is X-Gamer bad for you?

As is with everything, there are definite pros and cons, but I wouldn’t say it’s bad for you. It can actually do more good than harm as long as it’s in proper moderation.

I do appreciate that it has a little sugar and fat, enough that it’s boosting, and its caffeine level is within my preference. For these reasons, I can recommend X-Gamer.

However, if you’re conscious of your sugar, caffeine, and fat intake, then this might be something to give some thought to first. What I find beneficial for me might not necessarily be the same for you. I suggest you examine your intake based on the role it’ll play in your lifestyle.

X-Gamer is formulated for healthy gamers that are in constant need of an energy boost. As is with all energy drinks, the product is not for the consumption of children, minors, pregnant and nursing women, and anyone with medical conditions.

If you’re part of that selection, consumption of this product is not for you.

Is it safe to drink X-Gamer every day?

Yes, you can definitely drink X-Gamer every day.

However, due to the caffeine level in X-Gamer being relatively higher than its alternatives, I wouldn’t suggest you drink more than 1 servings a day. If you’re really looking for a caffeine boost, I would recommend you get it from another source like coffee, tea, or soft drinks.

Summary

X-Gamer is worth the try!

After investigating the nutrition facts, I would say X-Gamer can be an effective energy formula especially for those individuals who are into extreme mental and physical activities like working out or gaming.

X-Gamer is low in sugar and fat and doesn’t contain sodium. However, the caffeine level is something you should be wary of especially if you have a low tolerance for caffeine.

Its component is above average and I like that it contains a lot of vitamins, but the lack of information about it on the packaging is somewhat of a pitfall for me.

Overall, I think the pros outweigh the cons so I would definitely recommend X-Gamer especially if you’re a gamer who plays for long hours every day.
