Reviews Zipfizz

Zipfizz Review (Thorough Analysis)

I have known Zipfizz for many years now and have tried and enjoyed it many times already, so I thought why not do an in-depth review here on the blog.

Without further ado, here are my two cents on the Zipfizz energy drink.

I had a pleasant experience with Zipfizz so I’d give it a rating of 8.5. Zipfizz, like what it promised, was able to deliver a strong boost in energy and kept me alert for long hours. However, I find it costly, and if its packaging was more eco-friendly, I’d buy it more often.

Continue reading for a more detailed review.

What is Zipfizz?

Zipfizz is a powdered energy drink in a tube that has been in the business for almost two decades now. The brand offers an instant energy boost and increased alertness in just fifteen minutes at the very least.

This energy drink contains 24 nutritional ingredients that will help you deliver high performance during vigorous physical activities like working out, gaming, or sports.

Zipfizz Nutrition Facts

The back of Zipfizz single-serve tube.

Zipfizz is loaded with vitamins and minerals that are essential for keeping your body functioning properly and healthy.

Electrolytes are present, too, to prevent dehydration and antioxidants are also abundant to protect your cells against free radicals that cause many chronic health issues such as cardiovascular diseases, cataracts, and cancers.

I also thought you should know that there are some nutrients in Zipfizz that exceed the daily dosage. Check this table:

NutrientAmount per single-servingRecommended Daily Intake
Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)500 mg75 mg to 90 mg
Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin)2,500 mcg2.4 mcg
Chromium60 mcg25 mcg to 35 mcg
Table of nutrients that exceeded the recommended daily dose for healthy adults set by medical experts.

Personally, the excess doses of Vitamins C and B12 shouldn’t be that big a deal since they are water-soluble, the body just excretes the excess and are unlikely to cause harm.

For Chromium, although rare, too much of it from supplements can cause damage to the liver, kidneys, and nerves. It may also cause irregular heart rhythm.

Although these wouldn’t cause immediate negative effects, I personally think it’s still a bit unsettling knowing that there’s a higher possibility.

Calories in Zipfizz

There’s a total of 20 calories for every serving of Zipfizz.

If you’re worried that daily consumption of Zipfizz can make you gain weight, the answer is no. Zipfizz is considered a low-calorie energy drink and won’t hurt your diet plans.

Besides, having no calories in your food at all isn’t a good idea because it’s an essential part of your diet. In case you’re forgetting, a calorie is simply a unit of energy that your cells need to function normally.

According to the NIH, healthy adults should have an intake of 2,000 to 2,500 calories per day. So relax and give your body something to burn, as long as you keep it balanced.

Sugar in Zipfizz

Zipfizz is a sugar-free energy drink.

This is a perk that not all energy drinks have so Zipfizz is definitely a better alternative if you’re looking to steer from sugar.

Living in a world where diabetes is an epidemic, it’s a relief to know that there are sugar-free options for products that are normally sugar-loaded like energy drinks.

Reasons to go sugar-free:

  • Lowers the risk of illnesses
  • Controls hunger and cravings
  • Improves your energy
  • Enhances mental clarity
  • Improves your appearance
  • Manages and maintains your weight
  • Improves dental health
  • Avoids allergens

Zipfizz is sweetened by artificial sweeteners called Sucralose and Xylitol.

Their health effects aren’t really a big problem for me since you don’t need a lot of them in the formulation to make Zipfizz taste sweet because they are a hundred times sweeter than the regular table sugar.

If you’re worried, then it’d help to know that they are legal and permitted for use in the US and EU.

Caffeine in Zipfizz

A single serving of Zipfizz contains 100mg of caffeine.

Caffeine is a popular psychoactive substance that increases your brain activity, enhances your alertness, and boosts your energy. Aren’t these the main reasons why you find yourself grabbing for an energy drink when you’re feeling sluggish?

This is why caffeine is considered a major component in Zipfizz formulation.

Caffeine is also present in soft drinks, tea, and coffee.

Zipfizz’s caffeine content has a level that is low to moderate compared to other powdered energy drinks in the market.

Let’s refer to this comparison table:

Zipfizz (11g)G Fuel Energy (10g)Rogue Energy (6.9g)X-Gamer Energy (10g)
Caffeine content100mg150mg175mg200mg
Comparison of caffeine content between Zipfizz Energy Powder and other powdered energy drink brands.

The table shows that with Zipfizz’s caffeine content, there is zero to little chance of experiencing negative effects or caffeine overdose which includes nervousness, palpitations, and an increase in high blood pressure.

On the contrary, 100mg might be too weak for those with high caffeine tolerance that they won’t feel any effect after drinking one serving of Zipfizz. But the good news is, they can enjoy another serving of Zipfizz without worrying about overconsumption.

According to health experts, the consumption of 400mg of caffeine at a maximum daily is considered safe for healthy adults.

I prefer my caffeine between 100mg to 250mg so Zipfizz fits the bill. As someone who likes energy drinks a lot, I like that I can drink this twice a day without worries.

I think I have mentioned every important detail about Zipfizz’s nutritional facts. It has a lot of good in it and there are a few that are not very appealing but I’d say, the good weigh a hundred times heavier than the bad.

I suggest you check out another article I have where I flesh out the details of each ingredient.

Zipfizz Flavor Reviews

There’s a great selection of flavors available for Zipfizz and I’ve taken the liberty to try some of them to inform you best. Here’s what I think of them.

Orange Soda (Rating: 9 out of 10)

This is the first flavor I tried among the flavors and I must say it made a great first impression.

I gave the bottle and good shake before popping it open. The mix created a thin layer of foam with a spot of orange pigment.

It did taste and smell like an orange-flavored soft drink, which I liked. It’s sweet but not overwhelming. However, it did have a slightly bitter aftertaste that spoils the initial taste I was getting.

I also noticed that if even I gave my bottle a good shake, there’s still undissolved powder at the bottom of my glass and it’s the same for all the Zipfizz flavors I’ve tried. Although this isn’t a big deal to me, hence the favorable rating.

Undissolved Orange Soda powder at the bottom of my glass.

Pink Grapefruit (10 out of 10)

This flavor didn’t have a grapefruit taste in it but it did taste amazing that I had downed it in 2 minutes. This resembles more of a sweet orange taste. This one didn’t have a bitter aftertaste which I got in most of the flavors.

Pink Lemonade (Rating: 3 out of 10)

This is probably my least favorite of them all. It’s too sour for my liking. The smell wasn’t pleasant as well, I’m not sure what was in the mix but it had a bit of an acidic smell and it didn’t taste good either.

Although all the flavors weren’t as enjoyable as I wanted, one benefit amongst all of them is their efficiency in boosting energy levels in an instant. I’d give the energy boost a 10 out of 10. Hands down!

How To Mix Zipfizz?

Your Zipfizz drink is ready in three easy steps:

  1. Grab a shaker bottle with 16 oz to 20 oz of cold water.
  2. Pour in 1 tube Zipfizz.
  3. Shake and drink.

Another way to enjoy your Zipfizz is by adding it to your smoothie or any non-carbonated drinks. Adding this to carbonated beverages such as soft drinks may result in excessive fizzing.

You would want to drink your Zipfizz 15 to 30 minutes before an activity to achieve a timely increase in performance.

Why that exact time frame?

This is a suggestion that the brand claims to be the best time frame for your body to absorb the drink and receive its optimal effects. Most energy supplements take an hour at the very least to kick in and are suggested to be taken at a similar time frame.

Even caffeine consumption, which makes up a big amount of energy drinks, is suggested to be taken 45-90 minutes before any physical activity. Although some forms of caffeine can be absorbed by the body a lot quicker and can take effect in less than 15 minutes.

I personally find the claim to be a bold statement but it’s also evidence of the brand’s trust that their product will deliver. As for my experience, it provided me with sufficient boost and energy within the time frame.

It’s important to note that this is simply a recommendation and that each body receives nutrition differently. It’s best you observe your body’s response and adjust accordingly.

Zipfizz Pros and Cons

I’ve discussed a lot of what makes Zipfizz favorable, and even some that may be of hesitation. Here’s a table so you can easily outweigh its pros and cons.

AspectsProsCons
Caffeine (low level)Lowered risks of caffeine overdoseMight not be effective for those with high caffeine tolerance
PackagingAttractive, unique, convenientWasteful packaging, bad for the environment
FormulaRich in vitamins and minerals, powerfulToo expensive
Benefits VS Risks Assessment

Of course, these are just my opinions and are totally subjective to my experience. However, I hope this gives you a better perspective to manage your expectations.

Zipfizz vs Advocare Spark

I have tried so many energy drinks already but I think Advocare Spark is the only energy drink that comes close to Zipfizz.

Both Zipfizz and Advocare Spark are sugar-free and low in calories. Their caffeine content is pretty level, too. Zipfizz has 100mg per serving while Advocare has 120mg.

When it comes to nutrients, both brands are rich in it but Zipfizz having a total of 24 nutrients makes it a healthier energy drink than Advocare. Most ingredients in Advocare are found in Zipfizz.

One main difference is Advocare is available in packets and canisters while Zipfizz is only available in single-serving tubes. Besides that, both drinks are pretty head-on with each other.

What other flavors does Zipfizz have?

Zipfizz’s vibrant packaging is acquainted with the corresponding flavors.

Zipfizz Powder has 14 flavors:

  1. Berry
  2. Citrus
  3. Grape
  4. Orange Soda
  5. Pink Lemonade
  6. Fruit Punch
  7. Orange Cream
  8. Lemon Iced Tea
  9. Blueberry Raspberry
  10. Pink Grapefruit
  11. Black Cherry
  12. Limón
  13. Peach Mango
  14. Piña Colada

Zipfizz is yet to be available in tubs. For now, you can enjoy it in its 11g single-serve tubes. These make the products travel-friendly and easy to mix if you’re looking for a quick boost.

Where to buy Zipfizz?

You can buy Zipfizz on their official website and the following online platforms:

You may also find Zipfizz in your local supermarket and convenience stores. This availability is something not all energy drinks have so I’d say this is a benefit for drinking Zipfizz.

How much is Zipfizz?

A box of Zipfizz with 20 tubes/servings costs $37.99.

That’s almost $2 per serving! Way above the average price for most powdered energy drinks. Zipfizz is double to triple the price of other huge brands in the market today which, to me, is quite reasonable due to its rich formulation.

But, at the same time, I don’t think it’s economical and is not something I’d go for regularly.

Study this table:

Price Comparison

BrandNo. of servingsPrice
Zipfizz20 $37.99
Rogue Energy Tub 30$32.99
G Fuel Energy Tub 40$35.99
Sneak Energy Tub40$40.00
X Gamer Tub60$35.00
Table comparing the price of Zipfizz to other powdered energy drinks.

Apparently, Zipfizz isn’t your best option to shop if you’re looking for a budget-friendly energy drink.

Online StorePrice
Zipfizz website (20 servings) $37.99
Amazon (20 servings) $21.99 to $25.99
Walmart (20 servings) $25 to $33
Costco (30 servings) $24.99
eBay (20 servings) $21.99 to 26.85
Price comparison of Zipfizz from different online stores.

Prices would usually vary depending on where the product is sold. Based on this table, your cheapest source would be at Costco for $24.99 with 30 tubes a box.

Different stores offer different perks, especially discounts. The best tip I can give you is to watch for discounts being offered at the moment from all of these sites and compare them before you make a purchase.

How many servings of Zipfizz can you consume in a day?

If you’re not used to drinking beverages with caffeine, you may want to start with one serving of Zipfizz a day.

But, if you have a high tolerance for caffeine, you can go up to three servings in a day. This is confirmed on Zipfizz’s website as well.

Can your kid drink Zipfizz?

Due to its caffeine content, Zipfizz is not recommended for kids or anyone in these categories:

  • persons with medical conditions
  • anyone below 18 years of age
  • pregnant
  • trying to be pregnant
  • nursing

Here’s a doctor explaining the risks of energy drinks to kids:

Energy drinks should be strictly off-limits to children.

Is Zipfizz bad for you?

Simply put, Zipfizz is not bad for you.

Zipfizz is just an energy drink and like other energy drinks, it is formulated for your nutrition and benefit. It will remain good for you as long as you consume it within its recommended dosages.

What I worry about in Zipfizz is their few ingredients that have gone beyond the recommended intake, which can be easily addressed by seeking a medical opinion.

Other than that, Zipfizz is a great drink. It’s packed with vitamins and minerals, consists of an all-natural and plant-derived blend that’s rich in antioxidants, and is sugar-free.

Final Thoughts

Zipfizz receives a rating of 8.5 in my books.

It’s an energy drink that can be consumed every day without the risk of overdosing on caffeine or sugar crashing on its sweetness because its caffeine level is relatively low and it doesn’t contain any sugar.

It’s also a great choice of energy drink for those on weight control because it’s low in calories and carbs, making the drink a better substitute from other drinks packed with calories.

It is packed with all the good stuff like vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to keep you sufficed while providing you with energy and increased mental functions. I have no doubt about its efficiency, it does work in keeping me energized and focused for long hours.

All its goodness for $37.99 per box of 20 tubes/servings could arguably be worth it, but I don’t think it’s not practical.

The biggest drawback I have on Zipfizz is its packaging. I find their individual plastic tubes unnecessary. These tubes are too much for single uses and are hurtful to the environment. I wish Zipfizz can improve on this aspect.

All-in-all, is Zipfizz a good option for an energy drink? Definitely! Zipfizz offers a lot of benefits and its risks are manageable.
